Science and technology create China and build dreams in Haimen. On November 23, “Science and Technology China | The Sixth (2023) China Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Human Precision Measurement Special Competition and the 2023 Human Precision Measurement Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Finals” was held in Haimen Economic and Technological Development Zone. The Human Body Precision Measurement Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition aims to be guided by “innovation-led, industry-finance integration”, gain insight into the international scientific and technological frontiers in the field, discover and support a group of high-quality projects and teams with strong innovative capabilities, new scientific and technological achievements, and wide application range, and continue to promote Original, disruptive, and cross-cutting innovation and development in the field of human body precision measurement.
This competition was founded in 2020 by the Shanghai International Human Phenotype Research Institute and the National Medical Device Industry Technology Innovation Alliance. It has been successfully held three times so far. This event attracted more than 100 high-quality projects from across the country to sign up for the competition. After layers of screening, a total of more than 30 outstanding teams from the growth group and start-up group stood out and entered the finals. The shortlisted teams focused on the cutting-edge field of human body precision measurement, starting from meeting clinical needs and solving industry pain points, and demonstrated new technologies and products covering medical devices, medical consumables, smart medical and other fields, to present review experts, investment and financing institutions and audiences. Demonstrating the top level and cutting-edge progress of China’s medical device innovation.
Jin Li, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, president of Fudan University, founding director of Shanghai International Human Phenotyping Research Institute, and co-initiator of the International Human Phenotyping Project, delivered a video speech on behalf of the organizers. Teng Gaojun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, president of Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University, member of the China Human Phenotype Research Collaboration Group (HPCC), Guo Xiaomin, secretary of the Haimen District Party Committee and Party Working Committee of Haimen Economic and Technological Development Zone, National Medical Device Industry Technology Innovation Alliance Secretary-General Wang Lin attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Zhang Wenjin, deputy director of the Haimen District Government, introduced the development of Haimen to the experts, scholars and industry guests attending the competition. Su Wenna, deputy secretary-general of the National Medical Device Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, presided over the opening ceremony.
The finals of this competition are divided into two categories: growth group and start-up group. Each group is composed of five expert judges from universities, scientific research institutes, industry and capital circles. The leader of the growth group evaluation expert group is Chen Jie, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and Fudan “Haoqing” Distinguished Professor. , the start-up group review expert group is headed by Tian Mei, former president of the World Molecular Imaging Society, executive director of the Human Phenotypic Research Institute of Fudan University, and vice president of the Shanghai International Human Phenotypic Research Institute.
After fierce competition in project roadshows, work exhibitions, expert Q&A and other sessions, this competition finally decided on 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 5 third prizes in the growth group and start-up group.
