On May 16, 2024, Lei Ping, deputy director of the State Drug Administration (SDA), and Kim Yumi, deputy minister of the Ministry of Food, Medicine and Pharmaceutical Safety of the Republic of Korea (ROK), renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in the Regulation of Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, and Cosmetics signed by the two ministries in 2019 in Wosong, South Korea, to further promote the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in the fields of regulation of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics.
During the period, the two sides held working talks. Lei Ping introduced the basic situation of China’s cosmetic supervision and expressed his hope that the two sides will continue to strengthen exchanges, learn from each other’s experience, and promote the development of the cosmetic industry of both sides while ensuring the health and safety of consumers.
Kim Yumi said that the Korean side attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China’s State Drug Administration, and hopes to further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides to jointly enhance the regulatory capacity.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues related to the regulation of cosmetics of common concern.
